Is there a new sheriff in town regarding portable digital audio recorders? — On January 19, 2006 “Edirol” published the first details about a successor to their first portable recorder, the “R-1″. In the last days I was busy trying to get their new product at some dealers or at least more in-depth informations, but of course failed as it is as difficult as trying to buy a recorder from one of Edirols competitors like “AEQ”, “M-Audio”, “Marantz” or “Tascam”. experimenting with a wide variety of application scenarios and interaction modalities that utilize multi-touch input information. These go far beyond the “poking” actions you get with a typical touchscreen, or the gross gesturing found in video-based interactive interfaces. It is a rich area for research, and we are extremely excited by its potential for advances in efficiency, usability, and intuitiveness.

Some folks are starting to complain again as the video recordings of the 22. Chaos Comuncation Congress 2005 are not available yet.
The recordings are not lost, they are indeed complete and in a very good condition - but only on the 400 digital video tapes. This is a kind of Data-Retention, one can endure perhaps: There is a Frappr!-group about the 22C3 and everybody who attended the 22nd Chaos Communication Congress is free to add him- oder herself to that group, so one can see, where the audience of the 22C3 came from.
Frappr! stands for “Friend Mapper” and is a website dedicated to locate people at the place (home, work, holiday, etc.) they specified themselves and can be regarded as “Social Software“.
